So many times, when I ask a client, "If you could do anything or go anywhere or be anything, what would it be?" there is a long silence. They really have to think about it because they are so far removed from their dreams.
And so I offer them this simple exercise to tap into that place where our dreams are tucked away, waiting for us to breathe life and desire back into them.
Find a quiet place where you can sit, uninterrupted for at least 20 minutes.
Gather a couple of magazines and just flip through the pages, tearing out any images that appeal to you. Tear out words, too, if you like, that inspire you.
Don't question what you are drawn to, just gather as many images as you can.
Then sit back and look through what you have. You'll be amazed by what you've collected.
Do you notice a theme? A repeating color palette? Does one particular image jump out at you?
Somewhere you will see an image that reminds you of a dream you've had, a place you've always wanted to visit, a scene that you wish was part of your own life.
Post this photo where you will see it every day. It will help you focus on that dream. It will guide you as you make choices to make that dream a reality.
For example, if you pulled out a photo of a woman walking on a Caribbean beach and it is your dream to visit an exotic island, then, perhaps, the next time you are shopping you will remember this image and choose NOT to purchase that extra pair of shoes so that you can put that money toward your island vacation.
Or maybe you found a picture of an adorable puppy. You know you've always wanted to have a dog but life's circumstances never allowed it. But, looking at the picture you realize that now you do have the time, energy and yard to bring a dog into your life. Posting that photograph will focus your attention on what you need to do to make that happen.
Naming and claiming what you want is the first step toward manifesting anything into reality.
So, what do YOU want to "may-k" happen?
