Human values are like jewels which help us do our work without causing any pain, hurt, discomfort, conflict, chaos or confusion to any living being.
Values are nothing but the virtues we’ve developed over time. Human values not only help build a strong character; but they also make one an amicable and a successful being, socially and professionally. The more you carry good values, the more are the chances of you being picked for a job professionally; more are the chances of you being promoted; and more are the chances that you will last longer time in your job or business. Therefore, it is very important to imbibe human values such as sincerity, honesty, peace, integrity, self-confidence and many more, into our personal as well as professional life.
Let’s learn about some important human values, as taught by the Spiritual Master, Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan (Blissful Death: 1988, Age 80 years). He was Self-Enlightened and a married man. He had his own business of construction, which he conducted without causing any hurt or suffering to anyone; and at the same time earned enough money to suffice his family’s expenses and expectations.
At the foundation of these values is our sincere intent to not give any pain or discomfort to others,
Sincerity:To always remain sincere to everyone and in everything that you do.Finish your work on time, be sincere to listening to others viewpoints, and be open to new ideas and thoughts. A person who is not sincere to others is insincere to his own self, says Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan.
Morality:Morality means to enjoy whatever is yours by right and that which comes to you naturally. So, we can accept all that comes to us naturally, but should not have any greed for more!
Honesty:When one is honest in his dealings, he will face very few difficulties. By being dishonest, one will not only face multiple difficulties, but will also bind several demerit karmas, the consequences of which he will have to face in the next birth, in the form of pain, suffering and misery.
Inner Peace: You may conduct your business or profession with an aim to meet some higher goal of your life. If you keep your goal restricted to that of only earning money, then money will meet your expenses, but what about your inner peace? So many rich people spend years and years without any sleep, and at the end, they catch a disease and die away. Money can give you comfort but it should be such that gives you inner peace as well. Your earnings feed the family, so it’s important. But worrying too much about your job or business will ruin your work. Have a high thinking and be contented; this shall yield inner peace.
Maintain Purity: While pursuing your professional life, make sure that you don’t hurt anyone in the process through your thoughts, words or actions. Never adulterate the food; or give less weight than billed through the tricks of the trade. Such activities lead to the animal life-form in the next birth. Try to implement religious principles in your professional life. You can charge interest on the money that you loan out, but the other person should not be hurt by it. He should be fine with you charging interest on it. In case, losses incur in a business or a job, keep your purity by fulfilling all your debts to the last penny. Stay firm in your inner intention to pay back.
Be Fearless: We build a lot of hopes and desires in our professional life, which could eventually bring us disappointment. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan, while sharing his experience, says, “Before I set the ship of my business in the waters, I perform all the necessary religious rituals and then I whisper in the steamer’s ear, “You may sink whenever you want to, although that is not my wish.” Then, whether the steamer sinks after six months or after two years, I adjust to the situation and tell myself, ‘At least it lasted six months.’ Palaces of desires will not fail to bring disappointment. Therefore, try your best to remain in equanimity and, come what may, try to remain fearless in every situation.
Maintain Regularity: Whether you get no customers or many customers, you should open and close your business store on the same time as others (Example: 10 am to 7 pm). If we open the store early one day and late another, it would harm our business. Also, if one keeps the store open for longer hours than others, it unnecessarily creates chaos and conflicts between the two store owners. Therefore, maintain regularity and don’t try to do something very odd that excites and agitates other business owners.
Nobility and Generosity: In our profession, while we earn on one end, we must also simultaneously donate generously and regularly. It is a good practice to donate a fixed percentage of your monthly remuneration for a good cause.
Hope these human values that I have learnt from Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan are helpful to you too in your professional life such that they lead you to inner peace and a happy life in this birth and also future births too!

Ambalal M. Patel was a civil contractor by profession. In June 1958, spontaneous Self-Realization occurred within Ambalal M. Patel. From this point on, Ambalal became a Gnani Purush, and the Lord that manifest within him became known as Dada Bhagwan. A Gnani Purush is One who has realized the Self and is able help others do the same. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan used to go from town to town and country-to-country to give satsang (spiritual discourse) and impart the knowledge of the Self, as well as knowledge of harmonious worldly interactions to everyone who came to meet him. This spiritual science, known as Akram Vignan, is the step-less path to Self-realization.
