Pre press is the most vital phase of commercial printing as it determines the success and intensity of customer satisfaction. Here, in this article we will discuss some of the best pre press ideas to obtain perfect printed product. Usually, designers prefer CMYK as the best way to go, but you can work with RGB images as well for perfect optimization of the printed. Go through the following tips:

Use Photoshop Images in RGB Color Modes
Using RGB for Photoshop images might seem old fashioned, but technology has come a long way and now RGB color mode provide wider range of colors than CMYK for both print and web. Because RGB colors (Red, Green and Blue) are created with light, hence computer monitors can produce fantastic range of colors. On the other hand CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and key, or black) is created by putting ink to paper. Ink or paper colors can never be as bright or saturated as the colors on your computer screen or TV, do not matter what amount of ink you add to the paper.

Assign Correct Color Settings
For successful use of RGB image in the Adobe InDesign, it is essential to assign right color settings. With Adobe it is much easier to do. You can assign appropriate color setting in Adobe Bridge by clicking Edit -> Creative Suite Color Settings. You can then select the region, i.e. either “North America Prepress 2”, “Japan Prepress 2” or “Europe Prepress 2″.

Use PSD Files Instead of EPS Files
Once the images have been saved in RGB color mode the next step is to start designing. Replacing EPS files with PDS has a major purpose, i.e. with PSD files you can access some extra features offered by InDesign like spot colors, clipping paths, duotone colors, alpha channels and vector information like Smart Objects. In a PSD file you can also access all the layers.

Choosing right pre press paper for printing
For the purpose of commercial printing there are many differ kinds of papers available in the market such as uncoated paper for stationary, recycled and brownish paper for news printing, glossy paper for magazine printing and bright-white coated paper for high-quality brochures. So, the choice of paper entirely depends on the type of type of printing project you get. However, if possible avoid using recycled paper, as it sucks up more ink. If you ignore this factor while choosing paper for printing I pre press, you might end up your beautiful full-color photos into too dark or ink blurred over the paper.
